A Shared Passion Involving Bats, Balls, Gloves and More!

Yes, I know it! I am blessed, spoiled, favored, and a whole lot of other wonderful things because of my wife. And, NO, I am not in any sort of trouble so that I have to say these things. In fact, it is usually my friends and baseball customers who tell me this to my face. Why? Because my wife also likes baseball! She carries an understanding of the game, its history, players and nuances that put a lot of the guys who come into our baseball card shop to shame. And she is my favorite person to go to a game live with (other people high five at big moments, with her I get a kiss!).

But just as every person is different, so also baseball fans enjoy different aspects of the greatest game. MANY of those who visit MLB Memories love to collect things associated with the game, whether it be baseball cards, autographs, memorabilia, publications or whatever. But there are others…like my wife…who would rather make their own memory inducing items surrounding the national past time. And she particularly likes doing that with photography.

Many of the visitors to MLB Memories comment on out collection of Baseball Photos. Most of those great shots and brief photo-essays are the results of my wife’s love of the game, photography bug and Nikon. And most of them are taken as we venture out on one of our many baseball trips. However, more and more she is taking to “setting up” certain shots…like the one you see here. It is a simple pic, really, but it has a LOT of meaning for us. The ball is from a Frontier League game. It was fouled over the stadium and we found it in the parking lot after the contest. The glove is a “youth” model that is a George Brett signature model from Wilson. George has been a favorite for the two of us since we were dating back in the 1980s! And the bat is a game-used, cracked and autographed stick from Mitch Maier, the current fourth outfielder for the Kansas City Royals, and one of my wife’s favorite players because of his hustle.

These three things are loosely tied because of their connection with baseball. They are strongly tied because they are in our collection and mean something to us. And now they are permanently tied together in this “still life” picture. Enjoy.
