One of Our Favorite Things
I don’t know why just mentioning snow in a song makes it a “Christmas” song, but that seems to be the case. Several area radio stations in our area are featuring non-stop holiday music during these weeks leading up to the 25th. Personally, I like the music, but “My Favorite Things” from the Sound of Music just doesn’t qualify as a holiday tune in my book. Nothing against whiskers on kitten or warm, woolen mittens (or mittens on those kittens for that matter!) but the song is not a Christmas tune.
Nonetheless, as we are decorating around the house and shop I get to smile all over again from time to time when we uncover yet another baseball-related Christmas item. There are some great tree ornaments from the Baseball Hall of Fame, and a long-owned Hallmark item that has a bear asleep in his recliner with his ballcap on and a newspaper that reads “Wake me for Spring Training!” A bear after my own heart!
A few years ago we were in Missouri and took a stop at an outlet store. In that unique shop were several MLB Christmas figures. Most were snowmen with snowglobes set into their mid-section. However, as we combed through the shelves we found this Santa Claus who was a Royals fan. Ever since it has been one of our favorite things at Christmas. But we won’t sing about it, instead, we will just share it with you through a picture. Enjoy!
