The Cubs didn’t “win” as much as they got the victory, part 2

Castro lines a single

On Friday, July 15, the official MLB Memories photographer (also known as my wife, best friend, secretary and more) took her #2 camera (a Panasonic digital camera referred to fondly as her “Panny”) to the baseball cathedral known as Wrigley Field. In this post and the next we are glad to offer a selection of various, unedited images from that day in and around the venerable baseball palace. Note to Peter Gammons: the place is … continue reading The Cubs didn’t “win” as much as they got the victory, part 2

Remembering a Good Day in June ~ Kansas City Style

A glimpse of "the K" in the early afternoon sunshine.

It was a year ago this week that I was in my favorite ballpark, Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. Like other Royals fans, I do hope the team is on the cusp of playing as well as their ballpark looks! But even in these bad past couple of decades “the K” has been a refreshing, comforting, almost hallowed place for me upon every visit. Granted, those visits are few and far between as I … continue reading Remembering a Good Day in June ~ Kansas City Style

2011 Topps Baseball Series 2: A Quick Look

2011 Topps Series 2 Jason Heyward Diamond Sparkle parallel card

The snow was still on the ground last February when we breathlessly exclaimed the 2011 Topps Baseball Card set to be a “Diamond Set with Sparkle.” The months that have passed since then have melted the snow and ice with flowers and grass-to-be-mowed taking its place…but we still love the 2011 Topps cards! With the release of Series 2 last week we have discovered a few new reasons to love the set and rip through … continue reading 2011 Topps Baseball Series 2: A Quick Look

From the field of a MLB Ball Park

Right Field foul line

MLB Memories has really enjoyed sharing our little “photo essay” with you the past few days regarding the game between the San Diego and Milwaukee clubs on May 11, 2011. We had a great time being there, and we trust you have had a little flavor of that through out pictures. But there is one more great memory to share with you before we move on in our posts and writings. At the end of … continue reading From the field of a MLB Ball Park

A great day at Miller Park! part 2

First view of the field

As we mentioned in our last post, it was our good pleasure to attend the match up between the Padres and Brewers on May 11, 2011. We wanted to share a little of the day’s “flavor” with you, and are trying to do that through some of the photographic MLB Memories taken on that day. Here is another selection for your browsing, and we will likely post one more in a couple of days. Enjoy!

Padres pound…Brewers get bruised…but a great day at Miller Park!

Miller Park

Baseball fans usually have a favorite team or two for whom they cheer (or live and die depending upon the fan!). In our case it is the Kansas City Royals in the American League (are they really turning things around?) and the Chicago Cubs in the National (can you tell we like pain?). But, as with many other people passionate about the national pastime, we enjoy almost any baseball game at any time…and ESPECIALLY those … continue reading Padres pound…Brewers get bruised…but a great day at Miller Park!

2011 Topps Tribute Picture Gallery

CHASE UTLEY green autographed bat card from 2011 Topps Tribute

We have admitted this before…we LOVE Topps Tribute! The cards are beautiful, and the “hits” that are possible almost make the price per pack bearable. Our customers seem to like the product as well. The 2011 product is another solid offering, and we are glad to provide just a few pics of some cards that were opened this weekend at MLB Memories. Enjoy!

Hey Cubs Fans! This is worth a click through for you…

Old Cubs alternate logo

My household is divided…sort of. I have been a lifelong Kansas City Royals fan (yes, I can feel your pity, and I appreciate it) ever since July 4, 1969 when they took a double-header from the one-year-wonders, the Seattle Pilots. It was my privilege to be at that twin bill and fall in love with the boys in blue who have been breaking my heart for more than two decades now. Actually, it is kinda … continue reading Hey Cubs Fans! This is worth a click through for you…

Big-league Connections in Ballpark Collection!

Teammate Timelines Brewers - 2009 Ballpark Collection

When you live and work in a city like Rockford, Illinois, whose only professional baseball team is in an Independent League, you expect that Major League news or collectibles or what-have-you will be somewhat more difficult to come by than they are in other towns. It is not that the demand isn’t there, but the opportunity sure is lacking! That is one reason why you start a shop like MLB Memories. In recent years the … continue reading Big-league Connections in Ballpark Collection!
